2016-2017
The last day of 2016 was on a fine Saturday, making 1st January a Sunday. It’s a family tradition to be home over the festive season but on this particular one, my Dad and Our firstborn Kevin were absent for reasons we all understood. This left us with mum, alphine and I. Alphine being an early bird when it comes to sleeping left for bed at around 9.00pm. Mum and her girl stayed by the fireside and stories kept us awake. A few minutes to 12 AM I walked outside to view the stars and just feel the new year. Later I sent a few texts to my friends and family and after prayers, we all headed to sleep. I was scared of what life would be like this year having cleared campus and being in search of internship in an election year. I dreaded clearing campus but at the same time was positive that my year would turn out to be fun and productive.
Family and Friends
Strangers turn into friends, friends into best friends and best friends into family. In other circumstances, some friends and best friends turn into strangers and community members but for family, they forever remain family. I made so many new friends and the weirdest was one I met in a matatu on my way home. While that happened, some of those friends went silent and before I noticed we no longer had communication many from campus but that is life. To the new friends welcome, to the old ones forever grateful and to the family I love you all.
School and Work
Cleared my class work end of 2016 and 2017 was all internship for the coursework to be complete. Early January I got several calls from companies and after evaluating my choices I chose an IT company which offered me a 3-month internship with nightshifts in it. This was scary and at some point, I felt like leaving especially during the nightshifts. Well with my colleagues it became easier every day and thankfully I completed safely. During the 3 months, I started a side hustle selling men shoes online with deliveries made on weekends. This was had getting inquiries and some not converting or making a delivery and the size you carried gets bigger or smaller than the normal client’s size. I didn’t give up and up to date, the business is still on at vyonne fashions. Later joined a tour company(adventure360africa) one that I am still working in up to date a story I will tell another day.

Listened to a lot of gospel music this year both from local and international singers with everlyn Wanjiru’s (tunakuabudu song) making it to the top and Travis greene’s(Made a way) for the international singers.
Travel and Events
Masai Mara was my favorite place that I have had to visit this year. Watching the big 5 animals all in a single day was amazing and experiencing the Masai culture was mind-blowing. Of events, my graduation tops the list followed by my best friend’s birthday.
Health is not valued until sickness kicks in, seeing my best friend Faith in the hospital bed these last days has been my Worst moments. I know she is a strong lady and she will make it but the thought kills me every day. May God grant her health and strength. Faith, get well soon I miss you on your feet girl you are in my prayers.
