Malindi town is at the mouth of the Galana river, lying on the Indian Ocean of Kenya. It is 120 kilometers northeast of Mombasa. The town is well known for its tourism and fishing activities bearing in mind the presence of the Malindi marine park managed by the KWS. It is the largest urban center in Kilifi county with one of the famous beach.
Watamu is a small peaceful town on the Kenya coast 105 kilometers north of Mombasa and 15 kilometers south of Malindi town. Its main economic activities are tourism and fishing with a high population of the Bajuni people. Watamu is well known for its white sand beaches and the various protected natural reserves which are homes to unique species, both above and below the surface of the ocean. While staying in malindi make sure you visit watamu which is a 1-hour drive from malindi town.
